Steve Bass

Minister of Students

Steve Bass grew up in Lakeland, Florida, a city just outside of Tampa.  He Attended the University of Central Florida for two years, and through a series of crazy events, God led him to transfer to Auburn University.  He graduated with a degree in Art in 2004.  After graduation in 2004, Steve married his wife Natalie, and they began their ministry at Trinity the week following their wedding.  Steve has recently begun seminary classes to become an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church.

Steve didn't come to a relationship with Jesus until he was 20 years old, missing out on all of his teenage years.  After becoming a follower of Christ, he decided to devote his life to serving as a youth minister.  His career in ministry began at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served for almost seven years prior to coming to Trinity.  "We are very excited to be here because of the incredible people of Trinity.  We have been loved since we walked in the door by this congregation.  Trinity also has a big heart for students, and has gone to great lengths to show it.  We are looking forward to serving here for years to come."

• Life Verse:  “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.”  1 Corinthians 16: 13 - 14

• Favorite Foods:  Chips and Salsa

• Favorite Movie and Why:  “Batman Begins,” because it's the best movie ever made, duh.

• Hobbies / Pastimes / Interests:  I love sports, especially football, volleyball, and basketball.  I also love to draw and paint.  My biggest interest is my wife, Natalie, and our soon-to-be son, Carson.  Spending time with them is my favorite thing to do.  Also, my teenagers here at Trinity are a huge part of my life.  Most of my time away from my family, and a lot of time with them, is spent with my teenagers.

• Ambitions / Aspirations:  I aspire to see all teenagers get connected into a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ.  I hope to get a master's degree from seminary, and eventually become an ordained minister.  I also aspire to catch a salmon bare handed, then use it to lure a bear into a wrestling match.  Also, I would like to break the Guinness World Record for most time spent in a hammock, on a Caribbean island.

• What Do You Like to Read:  The Bible, Batman comic books, bathroom stall walls, and Nutritional Facts on the back of a bottle of Yoo-Hoo.

• People Are Surprised to Know:  I spent some time in prison.  Yeah, I know scary huh?  It's part of my pre-Jesus days, but I did a little time for grand theft.  I wouldn't recommend it, but it definitely gives me notoriety with the teenage boys.  I also am deathly afraid of frogs.  I really hate frogs, end of story.

• Best Counsel / Advice You’ve Ever Been Given:  "Treat every student like they are your only student."  -Mike Pearson, former pastor and friend
