Melinda Jackson

Minister of Adult and Family Life

Melinda Jackson has served on staff at Trinity for the last 16 years.  Her years here have blessed her and her family tremendously.  Born the daughter of a United Methodist Minister, Melinda was privileged to "grow up" in the church.  God first called her to serve in her early 20's by teaching a class of youth.  God used that experience to guide Melinda into her work in Christian Education.

Melinda graduated with a degree in Psychology in 1983 from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama.  Before coming to work at Trinity, she was the Program Director and Youth Minister at Normandale UMC in Montgomery.  When she came to Trinity, she was hired as the Nursery Coordinator, and went on to become the Children's Minister.  Melinda served in that capacity for several years.  Melinda has recently moved to the position of Minister of Adult and Family Life.  This area not only allows Melinda to use her skills in Christian Education, but also, her passion for congregational care and Senior Adult Ministry.

Melinda and her husband Jim have been married for 25 years and have been blessed with four great kids, Trey, Hannah, Rebecca, and Joshua.  Melinda believes Trinity UMC is a fantastic church where people love and serve the Lord, and each other, and she is grateful to be part of the Trinity Family.

• Life Verse:  "May The God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."  Romans 15: 13

• Favorite Foods:  Chocolate tops the list and then Mexican, Italian and Chinese are pretty tasty.

• Favorite Movie and Why:  Right now, "Pride and Prejudice,"  because I just saw it recently and I like the writing of Jane Austen.

• Hobbies / Pastimes / Interests:  Power-walking, avoiding elevators, climbing stairs, and smiling.

• Ambitions / Aspirations:  To leave behind a legacy to my four children that "people matter, kindness is always in style, and having a bunch of stuff is not important for existence on this planet."

• What Do You Like to Read:  I actually enjoy reading my Bible and do not see it as a "duty" since I am in full-time Christian Ministry.  For "entertaining and relaxing reading," I prefer Christian fiction.

• People Are Surprised to Know:  I am one of six children and sometimes I like to laugh until I cry.

• Best Counsel / Advice You've Ever Been Given:  Remember "Your Personal Identity is in Christ Jesus."
